Massey University, Science Blocks Redevelopment, Palmerston North, New Zealand

In 2003, Massey University commissioned Sinclair Knight Merz to prepare a master plan to rationalise science facilities, and subsequently design and manage its implementation.

Changing demands in the balance of academic programmes had rendered the three-storey blocks poorly suited for current demands. SKM planned a phased redevelopment and refurbishment programme to re-fit and upgrade the buildings, create new linkages and walkways, extend entrance foyers and staff facilities, and fit-out new laboratory and teaching facilities to contemporary standards and codes.

In 2008 the completed project won a regional NZIA Award and a Resene Colour Award.
